Congratulations to Mike Ackerman! He is celebrating 19 years with Zephyr Real Estate this winter and is based in our Noe Valley office.

Mike Ackerman grew up in the Bay Area with the belief that there is no better investment than the roof over your head. As a longtime San Francisco resident, homeowner, and investor, he offers invaluable genuine knowledge of the city to his clients.

Mike started his career in downtown San Francisco in the late 1970’s and created a niche for himself through his passion of managing projects, business systems, and events at the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce. After 15 years, he retreated to his ranch in Sonoma County to care for his terminally ill life partner. This catalytic change from city to country—from office career to full-time caregiver—exemplifies his skills in adaptation: making the best of life’s toughest challenges.

Realizing that change has its constants, Mike took his life-long passion for real estate and turned it into a career in San Francisco. Today, Mike and his business partner Oliver Burgleman have built a business upon referrals from friends, past clients and those that have touched their lives. Building Trust for Life is not just their logo or saying, but a way of living. They believe that the best decision is an informed one that has had the benefit of wise counsel AND a good night’s sleep. Whether buying or selling, Mike is an agent that his clients can rely on to help them during one of the most important times of their lives.

We got to know Mike a little better when catching up with him about his Zephyr anniversary.

1. What neighborhood/city do you live in & why? How long have you lived there and what do you love best about it?

“I have owned my own home and a rental unit in Bernal Heights since 1983 and I love brisk walks up the Esmeralda Steps to the top of Bernal Hill. Everything from restaurants to grocery stores are just a few blocks in any direction to Cortland Street, Mission Street or the Church Street Corridor of Noe Valley.”

2. What do you love to do in your spare time? Do you have a favorite place to hang out?

“I have a guilty pleasure of visiting the Beach/Park Chalet and walking along the beach when in San Francisco. I owned a second home in San Anselmo, Marin County where I grew up and love to ride my e-bike up to Mount Tamalpais watershed on my days off.”

3. Do you have a favorite architectural style or building in SF? In the world?

“I love the Edwardian and Craftsman eras running from 1911 through 1930 for their well thought out floor plans and scale of rooms.”
