We got to know Kevin a little better when catching up with him about his Zephyr anniversary.
1. What neighborhood/city do you live in and why and what do you love best about it?
“I live in a two-unit building which I had fortunately purchased in 2005 in Corona Heights on Corbett Avenue, a charming Street right above the Castro. I am my own testimonial for buying property and increasing home equity through property renovation. We rent out the top floor unit and lived in the lower one bedroom unit. We decided to expand our lower level unit into the garden level storage area and added 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and 1000 sq ft to our home. I like to share this story with clients who are interested in property development and all it entails with architects, building permits, contractors and budgets. I love Corona Heights because it is a quiet community just above the Castro in the heart of the city and it has many hidden stairs and parks with breathtaking views within walking distance.”
2. Is there one neighborhood, or city, in the Bay Area that you think is truly a hidden gem and why?
“At this point there are hardly any hidden gems left in San Francisco. The most attractive neighborhoods are the ones with village areas such as the Castro, 24th Street in Noe Valley, Cole Valley and Cortland in Bernal Heights. I think we will continue to see new mid to high-rise housing development in the warehouse districts of SOMA and along the Southeast San Francisco waterfront areas. But key to development of these areas is to continue to create villages where people can enjoy their community, shop and dine out.”
