1. What neighborhood have you seen change most in San Francisco?
“Living in San Francisco my whole life, I have seen a lot of changes citywide. However, if I had to name one neighborhood, I will choose Russian Hill, the neighborhood I grew up in. Russian Hill used to be more like the Sunset District very quiet, with generations of families and a smattering of a few small neighborhood shops. Now it’s a hip neighborhood with bustling activity due to the many great shops, restaurants, coffee stores, and bars. The only store that has remained since I was a child is The Bagelry, which is also my favorite bagel store in the city.”
2. Do you have a favorite architectural style or building in SF? In the world?
“I love old buildings, which is why I love visiting places like Italy. In San Francisco, I never tire of driving around Pacific Heights to look at the architecture of the mansions. A couple of my favorite architectural styles is Georgian Revival and Classical Revival. My favorite building in the world due to its internal architecture is La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Spain. I have never been so blown away and moved by architecture anywhere else.”
